Fierce Loyalty Weekly Web Roundup of Articles & Strategies 3/8/2013

My (sometimes) weekly roundup of articles, strategies case studies and more that will help you build a Fiercely Loyal community.

First and foremost, this is Spring Forward weekend. So unless you live in a disrupter state like Arizona, don’t forget to set your clocks ahead on Saturday night. This has been a public service announcement.

The Power of Fiercely Loyal Off-Line Communities. I get asked, at least once a day, are offline communities as important as online communities? The answer is YES! There are things that offline communities can do that online communities cannot. Plus, there’s something about meeting face-to-face that cannot be replaced or imitated by virtual means. Here is a great illustration of what I mean (and yes, I’m preening because this is about my city):  How ‘Public Markets’ in Birmingham, AL Food Desert Catalyze Community

Using Images to Build a Fiercely Loyal Community. Storytelling is a huge part of any community building strategy as is social proof and user generated content. This week I learned about a new service that rolls all of these up in one place – and leverages the power of instagram-like photo-sharing. Check out http://www.pixlee.com and think about how you could use user generated images in your brand community.

Transforming a Loose Network into a Fiercely Loyal Community. I did this short (15 minutes) for The Chronicle of Philanthropy. Before you say “Oh – it’s for Nonprofits so it doesn’t apply to me”, let me say this: the lessons and model for Fierce Loyalty apply across the board. I may use nonprofits as examples in this podcast, but you can easily lift them and apply them to your brand community as well. http://philanthropy.com/article/How-Nonprofits-Can-Build-Loyal/137297/

What great stuff have you seen around the web this week?
